How many angels are there?

There are many. Scripture mentions “legions of angels” several times. A legion is approximately 6000. When Jesus was arrested in Gethsemane He told Peter; Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? Twelve legions would be 12 x 6000 = 72,000. In Revelation 5: 11 John writes; Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.

The term “Legion” is also used in reference to evil angels or demons in Scripture. Jesus asked the demon; What is your name? The demon replied; My name is Legion for we are many (Mark 5:9). From this we know that there are many demons also.
